Job Description:

Job Title: Sewing Machinist

Department: Team Clothing Dept, Serious Sport. Dummer, Basingstoke

Responsible to: Production Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Serious Sport are a rapidly expanding company and as such have the need for another sewing machinist in their clothing team. Your direct responsibilities will be the assembly of the final garments and quality control of the finished product. You will be required to assist the production manager to ensure the delivery of sublimated clothing orders on time. This is a challenging role that would suit someone passionate about their work.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To sew together bespoke made garments.
  • To assist with the preparation of fabrics and garment templates
  • Using industrial sewing machines (Primarily Straight Stitch, Overlock and Cover stitch)
  • Ensuring quality control of garments is carried out to make sure our garments look as good as possible.
  • To assist in other areas of the Serious Sport company as appropriate, and designated by your line manager

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB

(a) Job context

The role is flexible and we can provide hours to suit the right candidate up to 40 hours per week. The role will be based at our headquarters - Serious Sport at The Dummer Cricket Centre, Basingstoke, RG25 2AR.

(b) Primary Working Relationships

  • Serious Sport Sublimation team
  • Serious Sport embroidery and printing team
  • Serious Sport Admin Staff
  • Serious Sport Sales Team
  • Reporting directly to the Sublimation Manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The position requires:

  • A passion for sewing and garment creation
  • Someone with an eye for detail and precision work ethic
  • A hands on practical person that wants a creative job
  • Experience is required but not necessarily in a previous paid role
  • Someone who is prepared to work hard and enjoys a challenge
  • Personal qualities which are vital – reliable, flexible, approachable, friendly, trustworthy and enthusiastic.

RENUMERATION

£25,000.00-£26,000.00 per year will be paid based on the candidates skill and accuracy of garments made. This will be reviewed quarterly.

Optional overtime will also be available at certain times of the year, where an hourly fee of £15 per hour will be paid (once fully trained).
